As a kid growing up in Sebastopol, Stephen spent the summer months working in the family business on project job sites, an experience that shaped his strong work ethic and commitment to the construction business. As the Founder and Managing Principal of Wright Residential, Stephen works closely with senior management on all aspects of business operations. Stephen is responsible for strategic objectives and business development, including the sourcing and execution of new development opportunities. He graduated from Harvard Law School and Phi Beta Kappa from Lewis & Clark College.
MATT VAN HEUSEN
As President, Matt implements the vision set by the principals of Wright Residential. With more than 25 years of custom home building and commercial construction experience, Matt is responsible for leading the Wright Residential team in all phases of pre-construction, project management, and business operations beginning with client and subcontractor relations through project completion. Starting his career in the construction industry as a carpenter, Matt quickly proved to be a great leader of people because of his calm, positive, and knowledgeable approach to solving problems large and small. This skill-set has been invaluable in driving Wright Residential forward. When he's not building homes, Matt loves spending time with his wife and son, he also enjoys being outdoors and cycling around Sonoma County.
Principal + Vice President
Nicholas is the third-generation of his family to be involved in the construction industry. As Vice President, Nicholas is responsible for reporting company financials, cost control, and risk management. Wright Residential's pre-construction services are also under Nicholas' direction. Nicholas spent the first 12 years of his professional life working around the world in finance and accounting. He spent seven years with Blizzard Entertainment as a financial controller in both their European and U.S. headquarters, where he was responsible for over $500 million in annual cost. Prior to Blizzard he spent five years in a CPA firm in San Francisco. Nicholas graduated from Fort Lewis College with a degree in business management. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Nicholas is also fluent in French.
Senior Project Manager
Mike leads and manages Wright Residential's team of project managers and engineers. In this role, Mike is primarily responsible for maintaining and controlling accountability for each project budget as well as ensuring all work is completed with pristine quality and on schedule. After graduating from Sonoma State University with a double degree and double minor, Mike was a project manager and Director of Energy Performance for six years for a leading design-build firm in Sonoma County. Throughout much of his career, Mike focused on sustainable solutions to create stronger, more resilient communities. When Mike isn't spending time with his family, you might find him focused on designing and building accessory dwelling units or relaxing by working in his yard.
Senior Project Manager
In his role as Director of Project Development, Jim leads construction efforts on multi-family and subdivision developments, from conception and proposal to completion and closeout, while delivering an exceptional level of customer service to the client. Before joining the Wright Residential team, Jim worked for a Bay Area commercial construction firm specializing in healthcare and schools. Jim has a bachelor's degree in business administration and over 20 years of industry experience. He began his career as a member of a clean-up crew and, after mastering framing and finishing work, progressed to leadership roles as a foreman, superintendent, and project manager. When not overseeing projects for Wright Residential, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
Director of Concrete
In his role as Director of Concrete, Mike oversees the team that allows Wright Residential to self-perform all of its structural concrete. Recognized as an industry leader committed to enhancing the capabilities of those who build with concrete, Mike is committed to Wright Residential's operational excellence and financial performance. Key areas of focus for Mike include employee relations, cost reductions, and customer satisfaction. Before joining Wright Residential, Mike owned and operated his own concrete company for 38 years.
Director of Framing
As Director of Framing, Casey oversees the framing crews allowing Wright Residential to self-perform all of its wood framing. Committed to quality control, architectural detail, and strong project management, Casey has dedicated the past 35 years to the construction industry. He graduated from the carpentry program at River City College in Sacramento in 1986 and has since built thousands of homes and commercial structures. Those who have worked with him will tell you that he is a wonderful teacher, happily passing on his knowledge to anyone he works with. Casey's true passion, however, is his family. Happily married for 31 years to his wife Leah, he has raised seven kids (five boys and two girls) and is a proud military parent. His favorite activities involve time outdoors, watching his kids play sports, fishing, and being out on the ocean. Casey is sure to be dedicated to building your home with the same attention and care he would give to his own family.
